How To Speak Chinese | For Beginners

1. PHRASES

The way to start learning any language is to learn phrases! Simple baby phrases, just like you did when you were a baby. You literally expanded your vocabulary by repeating the phrases that you heard around you. You heard those phrases from the adults, TV, noisy toys, etc... So Keep in mind while learning, you need to immerse yourself in the language. With Chinese-Mandarin, you will need to start with these simple phrases:

Zǎoshang hǎo- Good Morning

xiàwǔ hǎo- Good Afternoon

wǎnshàng hǎo- Good evening

and of course don't forget the famous "Nǐ hǎo"

For more commonly used and popular phrases, download the "Chinese Beginner Phrase Script" here: https://www.ambiemethod.com/shop That script will include all the basic phrases that you will need to start using!

2. Learn The Chinese Tones

First tone: ā

Second tone: á

Third tone: ǎ

Fourth tone: à

(I suggest watching the video below on how to pronounce each of the tones)

3. Learn The Pronouns

Pronouns are very important in most languages because you usually need them to create complete sentences. I say "most" languages because not all languages utilize pronouns often. Korean for example, you don't need pronouns to make a complete sentence. It is usually already assumed who and what you are talking about. So what are the pronouns in Chinese?

wǒ = I

ní = you

tā = he/she/it

wǒmen = we

tāmen = they

4. Learn Verbs

Once you are able to differentiate each pronoun, you can now start creating sentences with the verbs! I recommend starting with the most commonly used verbs. My top 3 verbs to start with is: HAVE, WANT, and GO

yǒu = have

yào = want

qù = go

NOW YOU ARE READY TO START PUTTING IT TOGETHER!

Be sure to watch the video below. I break down exactly what "putting it together" looks like!
